Employees 1st Employee Assistance Programs (EAP)

Help your employees who are facing financial difficulties immediately after a disaster or personal hardship. As a third-party, unbiased source, Employees 1st helps your employees through what could be a very private situation. Employees 1st does all the work and makes grants in an amount pre-determined by you. Your employees get quick help—and a reassurance that they can count on their company, just like their own families count on them.

Employees 1st can help by:

  • Setting up a new Employees Assistance Program (EAP) for your company

  • Transferring your existing employee relief program to us to manage through our Employees 1st program

  • Transferring Donor Advised or Investment Funds to your Employees 1st fund

In the United States, your tax-deductible donations to Employees 1st become tax-free grants to your employees in need.

1) Disaster Assistance

We know disaster and understand how to maneuver through different types and situations so that your employees get the help they need, when they need it.

Respond to large-scale events: hurricanes, wildfires, tornadoes and flooding are examples of natural disasters that are becoming more frequent. Set up an assistance fund in advance so that your company is ready when disaster strikes.

2) Personal Hardship Assistance

Have your company fund in place to respond to your employees’ financial stress caused by unforeseen circumstances. Examples of eligible events include house fires, short-term illness, domestic violence, and loss of a spouse or family member.

3) Evacuation/Displacement Relief and Long Term Disaster Relief Assistance Programs

During a federally declared disaster, the rules change. Employees 1st can deliver assistance more quickly when a special provision is activated after a federal disaster declaration. If you already have a fund, you are automatically opted-in to this program. Companies may choose an award of $500, $750 or $1000. This is a one-time grant.

The Employees 1st Evacuation/Displacement Relief and Long Term Disaster Relief Assistance Programs will be offered for 30 days after a Federally-declared disaster. The 30-day timeline for current clients would begin upon declaration. Additional assistance would be available through your year-round application.

4) Assistance First

Assistance 1st partners with eligible organizations to make cash grants to individuals facing unexpected emergencies that require financial assistance.

Careful consideration is taken when implementing this program, as it differs from Employees 1st.

A great example of an Assistance 1st program is a home health company that has counselors who cares for patients.

At times, these patients may suffer an unexpected emergency that prevents them from paying for basic household living expenses. The home health company would implement an Assistance 1st fund to help those patients with financial assistance. The fund, for instance, may pay an electricity bill or hire a contractor to make a house handicap accessible.

Contributions to the charitable fund are tax-deductible and people receiving the grants typically don't have to pay taxes on the gift. Assistance 1st acknowledges the charitable contributions by email or letter for tax purposes.
